The Ultimate Guide to Becoming an eBay Trading Assistant

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*  I recommend you try the reverse engineering article marketing technique which is a particular favourite of mine.  In my case I visit article directories like Ezine Articles (www.ezinearticles.com) and search for articles having received the most visits and being most frequently uploaded to other publishers’ web sites.  At Ezine Articles, you click on any subject category from the list at the top of the home page, next page click on any article, then finally scroll to the bottom of the article page for ‘Most Viewed’ articles and ‘Most Published’ in your chosen category.  You’ll discover some articles, literally just days old, have been viewed several thousand times with a large number of visitors to the article also visiting writers’ web sites.  Now all you do is write articles on similar subjects to those proving most successful for other marketers, then create a resource box that tempts your readers to click through to your own web site and sign up to your mailing list.
As you’d expect I normally research other people’s articles for subjects for which I intend to grow a mailing list, in my case usually about eBay or Internet marketing, canine health and making money from writing.  But I have also grown mailing lists for subjects I’ve never considered before purely to share heavy traffic going to other writers at major online article directories.  Recently, for instance, I noticed huge numbers of people reading articles about tattoos, in response to which I created a site about tattoos and grew a mailing list of people to contact every time I added new articles to the site.  My intention, which proved very effective, was to generate commissions from visitors clicking on AdSense promotions at my site or buying ClickBank eBooks about tattoos.
*  Another personal favourite list building technique is based on creating eBooks by writing them from scratch, or developing them from private label rights articles on subjects as wide ranging as making money from AdWords to prevent children being bullied at school.  I add half the text to an eBook and the other half I rewrite as articles to generate traffic to my squeeze pages.  Those articles go onto article directories as well as sites such as Squidoo and other social networking sites which are popular with search engines and help grow traffic to my squeeze pages (name for web sites containing sign up boxes).  Then I take the first chapter from the eBook which I save as text and chop it into six to ten parts to use as an email course for people who join my list.  Each email ends with an invitation to purchase the full version of the book which I normally promote through ClickBank.
As a side issue, I’ve learned that emails designed to promote a specific book prove more profitable with the book mentioned at the very top of the email as well as at the end, and not listed solely at the end where it looks more like an afterthought than a genuine attempt to sell to your readers.
*  Another of my favourite ways to grow a list – or even sell directly off the page – and thereby collect names of enquirers as well as buyers, is to choose ClickBank vendors offering promotional email articles or letters for their affiliates, as well as product illustrations.  I add text and illustrations to a simple one page web site with an order button containing my affiliate link featured several times down the page.
Once a visitor sees the link three or four times, he has usually made a definite decision to buy or not to buy on this occasion.  People who don’t buy right away I get to join my list for more information by adding my sign up box to the very bottom of my one page web site.
Once people order they are sometimes added manually to my mailing list (by sending just one email asking them to sign up for valuable free reports).  Those who don’t buy on their first visit usually sign up to my list and subsequently receive seven or more emails giving information about the product along with an invitation to buy which many list members eventually do.
It’s actually very easy indeed to create a short report including links to your own sites or with your affiliate details embedded to ensure you get paid for all orders generated through your free report.  What you might not realise is your free report can be just a few pages long and need not be downloadable by people who join your list.
Let me give you a few examples of incentives that are very easy to create, which cost nothing, and require no writing or design skills of any kind, and which don’t demand costly domain names and hosting space:
*  You could take a few articles provided by the vendor of your chosen affiliate product and combine them into one text file, then add your affiliate url at various places in the report, and finally convert it to pdf format and send your report as an attachment each time someone joins your list.  You can do this manually or using special features in most email software programs.
*  Alternatively, you could keep those articles separate and add your affiliate url just under the title and again at the end of the article.  Now add articles to follow up emails sent to people who join your list.  Aim for seven or eight emails sent at two or three day intervals and expect a good conversion rate (percentage of list members who buy your recommended product).  At the end of one email sequence, look for another product to promote and create new emails with product recommendations for list members who bought the first product and others who didn’t.
*  You can create your own exclusive reports, with your name as author, using text from private label rights products and others from the public domain.  Either turn your work into a pdf report uploaded to free hosting space or use your basic text in follow up emails as shown earlier.
*  You could write a review for the product you are promoting and use this in your pdf file or as the content for one or a series of follow up emails to people who join your list.  You could add those reviews to a free blog or upload them to online article directories of which there are many thousands. And if you don’t want to write your own reviews, you can have them created for you inexpensively by freelance writers at www.elance.com
Formatting Your Report
Once your report is finished you need to hyperlink specific points throughout the text to the product you are recommending.  Using Microsoft Word you do it by left clicking the mouse at the beginning of text you want to host your hyperlink, then with finger depressed drag the mouse to the end of your chosen text.  Now let go of the mouse making sure the text is still colour highlighted and then click on ‘Insert’ top of the screen.  From the drop down menu choose ‘Hyperlink’ and, where it says ‘Address’ on the box that appears your screen, key in your entire affiliate url from ‘http’ to the very last character provided by your affiliate company.  Using ClickBank, for example, you’d key in something like this real life example:  http://d08e1bub5csbdv4likkbgcve79.hop.clickbank.net/
Yes, it can be complicated, and mistakes are easy, but you can check you get it right by clicking through to the sales page for the product, then click on the order button, and for a ClickBank product you will see your affiliate nickname at the very bottom of the order form.
For other affiliate programs, such as from markethealth.com, you’ll find a statistics page specifying number of clicks on your affiliate links as well as commissions earned.  So if you click on your own link three or four times and go straight to your affiliate account you should see those hits recorded inside your stats pages.
Convert Your Report to PDF
PDF format is compatible with all computer types, even Mac, and is the very best way to ensure every new person on your mailing list can open your report, read it, and click on one of your affiliate links to purchase your recommended product.
I personally use Adobe Acrobat’s own product for creating pdf files but it can be expensive for new business owners.  Thankfully there are many locations online where you can convert your Word or other editing program file to pdf format, without paying, including:
www.primopdf.com
www.dopdf.com
www.cutepdf.com
www.freepdfconvert.com
When your pdf file is ready you can upload it to the Internet ready for list members to download after receiving one of your follow up emails.
There are many places where you can store your files online free of charge or you can pay for your own hosting space and domain name.
If you are stuck for cash you can upload your files to the following locations free of charge:
www.mediafire.com
www.xm.com
www.freepdfhosting.com
Promoting Your Free Reports
Now you must promote your free report which you do by adding a sign up box or basic email address to your ‘About Me’ page (check the rules first as they do change often on eBay), or you add sign up details to eBay.com Classified Ads.  Your chosen email distribution program will show how it’s done.
I’ve also discovered a lot of effective ways to promote reports, including free online classified ads. which can be very profitable.  There are literally thousands of sites offering free classified ads. most of which you can find by keying something like ‘free + classified + ads’ into the search box at www.google.com.
However, my favourite and most profitable way to make money from free reports is by submitting articles to online directories, notably www.ezinearticles.com and www.goarticles.com, and I also make good profits by adding articles and short news pieces to a free blog, or several free blogs, at www.blogger.com.
